PLANTERS ART MASSAGE

Planters

Samples of planters that I make are shown here, the first photo showing the small, medium, and large sizes. They are constructed of fiberglass-reinforced cement fortified with an acrylic additive. No heavier than ceramic pots, they are very strong and weather-resistant. Coloring is done with integral stains, acid stains, or paint-on concrete stains. You can easily conserve water by landscaping with drought-resistant plants that don't require extra water (xeriscape), and restrict thirsty plants to planters such as these. Two methods of using the planters are described below.

Bog Planters are without drainage holes, and are for growing plants that do well in wet soil. I have found this to be a good way to include lush foliage and flowers in the landscape with little effort. And the largest planters are quite carefree, requiring water perhaps only a couple of times per month in the hottest weather. Many different types of plants do well in bog planters, some of which are pictured below.

Color Bowl Planters are for plants that require drainage, and holes are easily drilled in the planters with a masonry bit. This method is useful for seasonal color plantings, avoiding digging armadillos and invading roots from surrounding trees or shrubs. I prefer to use plants that provide lasting, long-term color throughout either the warm or cool season. Below are a few of my favorites for adding color to the landscape in this way.

Planter Prices:

Large - $449

Medium - $189

Small - $79
